This course introduces learners to the Canadian Wildland Fire Risk Assessment Framework and provides a structured understanding of how wildland fire risk can be assessed at a landscape scale. 

Learners will explore the four key elements of wildland fire risk - susceptibility, exposure, likelihood, and magnitude - and the five stages of the risk assessment process: scoping; data, information and knowledge gathering; analysis; evaluation and communication; and re-assessment.

Through guided learning, reflection questions, and practical activities, the course helps learners understand how different types of knowledge and information can be brought together to identify and communicate wildfire risk. The course also highlights the importance of understanding uncertainty, engaging relevant people and knowledge holders, and recognizing that wildfire risk can change over time.
